Where can a single woman eat by herself for dinner?

I love eating out especially for dinner but moving to another state, I don't know anyone here and its not exactly easy to go and eat with people...sometimes I want to go to a nice restaurant but i don't want to go all by myself. What should I do? I know there is the mall and eating there all by myself is acceptable.

Don't eat at the mall - it's usually horrible food. I often eat by myself when traveling and I'll sit near the window or at the counter or bar if they have one. Who cares if you're by yourself! All the waitstaff wants is a nice  tip from you regardless!

How about bringing a book?  i often have lunch by myself with a good book...  Or you can go to a less formal place and you can just hang out and eat there...

Go to a good place like Panera Bread or another bakery restaurant. You can sit in there on your own and read, eat, and enjoy yourself.

Anywhere with a bar is a good choice, too. Applebee's, TGI Friday's, and Old Chicago all have bars. Don't be afraid to go out by yourself! You are more likely to meet people if you radiate confidence and go places where there are lots of people!

A single woman should not hesitate to eat anywhere she'd like to.  Please don't be intimidated because you're by yourself.  When traveling, or even in my own city, I have found myself walking into many fine restaurants.  If you are not so adventuresome out alone in the evening, try eating lunch alone several times.  You'll see that it's really not a problem.  Waitpersons are usually very gracious and happy to serve you.  I carry a book, magazine, or newspaper.  Sometimes, in a more relaxed luncheon setting, I have even brought along my knitting to occupy myself while I wait to be served.  Don't settle for fast food or mall food courts.  Enjoy, and smile!

I eat by myself across the country at Pizza Huts and Ruby Tuesday...Ruby Tuesday's booths by their bar are nice,private and most have TVs

Anywhere you want to.  Take a book with you.  I seen many people do this.  If you are uncomfortable at a table sit at the bar someone will talk to you there.

Another option you may want to pursue if you feel alittle awkward is to go out and eat  dinner early. As one who had traveled, I've found there are more "solo" dinners early in the evening which seem to be folks either out on their own or on the road. Service tends to be better since the rush generally has not started and wait staff have more time to chat with you.

Bringing along a book, your work and/or journal should help with the awkward factor. Watch some television also if you like. The bar area I gravitate to since it seems the people who dine alone eat there and we can either commiserate or leave one another alone or throw out random comments etc...

Mall food can be okay I suppose. Just depends how you feel about it. If you get a good vibe from a place try it out you'll be surprised likely. You can also ask the host what they would suggest. Go during off hours if you like so you don't feel as conscious about it. Good luck!

well when i was on business trips i would eat at the bar.  its not so bad by yourself and you can talk to others around you or play with your phone to look busy while waiting for your food.  or you could just call ahead, order food, and take it back to your house to eat.  almost any place will do that nowadays.

i have eaten by myself at malls before.  noone even bats an eye.

and honestly if i see someone eating by themself at a table at a resturant i always give them alot of credit b/c i was never brave enough just to get a 'tableforone'
