Where can go to get started making sterling silver rings?

I want to make my own jewlery...more or less...rings. I mean some good quality rings...Ive seen some artists make rings out of molds they make...how do I get started?

  1. I would go to your local art fair (they are all around in the summer time) and talk to jewelry makers. They could point you in the right direction of some local suppliers.


  2. the equiptment youll need is very expensive. i would contact a local private jeweler you can outsource some casting to. but heres a link that might help.

  3. I took a class - check with a community college. The class was given by a hobby shop owner. The hobby shop had all the supplies needed and also did the lost-wax castings so it all came together. They were also a good source for the metaI, whether silver or the different gold %s, and semi-precious stones like Turquoise, Red Coral, Opals, and Onyx. I got my picks mainly from a dentist. They throw them out when they are still great for wax carving.
