  1. The cheapest way is around $90,000 where you can buy a Skyline from Europe, get the steering and gas/brake pedals changed to the other side and get a new U.S. spec catylitic converter that fits in the Skyline so it can be street legal in the U.S.

Then pay $15,000 to ship it over and import it.

The current Nissan 350z is just as fast. Same 0-60 time and same top speed and much cheaper.

  2. There are so many newer cars with about the same performance that pass USA and Calif emissions and safety standards. Even All wheel drive Mitsubushi Lancers and Subaru WRX's Even the Corvette. Video Gammers choice for a fast car may not do so well in the "REAL WORLD" Old Skylines are very rare even overseas so good luck finding parts to fix one with out a japan relitive to purchase parts for you. There is no cheep way to own a High Powered sports car.

  3. You do not have to change the steering to the other side.

It depends where you live to what needs doing this is the country and if in the US the state also mods needed differs state to state so one answer one here out of your state may not be the exact answer you need.

Best bet is find out at your local gov Office which mods are needed to make the car street legal in your state as said if your in the US,this will give you an idea of cost and find out whom can do the mods also if any needed doing again this all adds to your budget.

Importing wise most places in the World allow the Skyline with  very very few alterations such as the UK,but US wise emissions need altering and headlights etc.The R33 spec 2 Skyline which is legal for US import due to Motorex crash Data which the US gov had to accept, these cars come with sideimpact bars, airbags and a cat on the stock exhaust although Japanese cars run on around 100 octane fuel.myself have to run mine on 97 octane the highest i can get around me and thats a 12 mile trip just for some fuel.

If you are US then there are Skylines in the US which are legal cars bought in before the only R33 Spec 2 rule are allowed due to them already being legalised.

Performance wise the GTR version of the Skyline have a stock bhp of around 330bhp and can run to 500bhp with its stock internals and over 1000bhp with mods this is what makes the Skyline range popular, its tunable engine which is easy to tune and bullet proof to tuners against other cars which may have a high stock bhp but don't take well to mods or are expensive to mod for few gains.
