  1. contact your states department  of corrections and prisons. also the federal dept. of correction for info. the state and federal agencies have their own sets of rules requirements and training programs. you may look in your phone book under state/federal gov. for a list of numbers.

  2. Check colleges around your area.http://education-portal.com/how_to_becom...

  3. Hello Jay. Requirements can and will vary with location and especially if you are looking at county versus state service.

Basically, you need to be over 18, clean criminal record, decent enough physical condition to make it through the mandated training and a clean driver's license ( you are required to drive a state vehicle if you go with a state position).

If you want county service, contact your local Sheriff's Department ( personnel) and get an application.

If it is state service, you can look online for Department of Corrections ( use your state's name before that).

Federal service is covered under BOP (Bureau of Prisons), also on line.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you

  4. That will be determined by state law, and the policy of each facility. You will have to contact them directly.
