I really enjoy acting and i think i am good but i don't know where to audition for short films or movies. I am a teen and live in the North East so i'm not even close to California. Does anyone have any suggestions to where there might be auditions suitable for someone who doesn't have acting experience? I have participated in a play at school and liked it very much but i haven't taken any special classes. I wanted to take one this summer, but since it's summer i have decided to wait until the school year starts. But for now, i have no experience but would like to audition for movies. Do i have a chance? And if so, where could i find these auditions?

  1. You don't need to live in California to have a passion for acting and you definitely don't need an agent. Check out your nearest university's film department.

Film students are always looking for actors. And because they too are students, they usually won't offer money. They'll offer something much better. Their films are presented at independent movie festivals, amateur film contests, etc. So when their films get showcased...guess what else all those judges and big time producers get to see! You and your acting skills! You give the film students some of your time, they'll give you the opportunity of a lifetime.

  2. I know this won't help even in the least, but I love acting too.

  3. well, like the above, you must get an agent.

they  have tips and tricks to get you into auditions that people without agents can't possibly find. if you have an agent they talk you up also giving you an advantage.

create a portfolio even if you haven't done much create one. get a resume started.

On your resume remember to have your headshot ( professional pic. not a myspace pic) on one side and then have your expierences

    * listed in column form. no sentence structure. on special skills. only list things you are good at, and don't put things like :enjoys coffee, or good with people.

*if you have not had any expierience in some categories leave them completely blank,

    * everything should be in 12 pt font. except your name in 36 or 44 pt.

    * your agent must review the resume

when you are looking for an agent remember there are lots of people trying to scam you. so to know its the real deal, remember:

A TRUE TALENT AGENT WILL NEVER EVER ASK YOU FOR A PAYMENT UPFRONT.

the only way agents make money is if you get a job. and they usually take about 10% of your pay check. so if you don't get the job they don't either basically.

and yes you do have a chance. when you go into an audition just remember, that directors are like animals. they can sense your fear. so go in confident and proud of who you are and you will be a knock out. don't try to be anything you're not, because if you make it, the director will realize you were lieing.  plus everyone needs to start somewhere, with no expierence, i give you a lot of credit for doing it !!!! yay theatre!!  I've been doing it for 6 years now, its an increadible time. you just can't let yourself be defeated, you won't ALWAYS be accepted, its just life. don't let it get to you, take it as a challenge and move on.  don't dwell, it wont' help you. i look at it this way, "there IS a director out there looking for you, you just have to make yourself available for them to find you"

keep optimisim and you'll be great!

just remember the little people who helped you get there.

    hope i helped.

  4. You have to get an agent,

    they get you auditions..

I've been an extra on tv before

  5. There are  hardly any roles for teens, but if you go to this website it will list all auditions in your area, you might be able to get into a student or non union film.  I heartily recommend that you start trying out for all the plays at school and find out if you are any good at acting.  exploretalent.com
