You can probably get 22K gold in Chinatown or in the places where middle eastern people stay but its not common.

What you are looking for 23k is called Baht gold, its a very simple gold jewelery that was/is used for money.  A one baht chain should weight 15.244 grams  and is 96.5% gold or 14.71046 grams, or about 0.4729523 troy ounce of (pure 24K gold).

The price is set by the Thai government.  Current price is 13,350 Baht for one Baht (See http://www.bangkokpost.com/).  The seller gets to add aa little for a mark up so right now you should pay no more than 13.600 baht or about $400 US.

You can buy Baht gold just about anywhere just look for a red building with gold lettering.  There are many places in Chinatown, most of the malls have shops.  Even stores like Big C (supermarket) have shops.

If you marry a Thai it is a custom to give Baht gold to the bride it should be a odd number 1,3 etc.. and 9 is very lucky.  Also a gold wedding band 50 Satang (one half baht) should be about 7,000 baht.  Here you get luck because Thais don't have a tradition of diamonds.

There are gold shops everywhere in Bangkok, most of gold they sell is 96.5% or 23K gold. The gold shops all sell by weight and the current spot market price, when buying gold jewelry expect to pay for the workmanship as well. Many people recommend Chinatown as the best place to buy gold, but there are gold shops in most malls and in most neighborhoods, the MBK Mall has quite a few shops that are good places to buy. If you're looking for 22K, some places may carry that too, just ask around.
