Where can i buy a 5ft x 2 ft x 3 inch think piece of styrofoam????

Im in pittsburgh, pa and it doesnt matter where the styrofoam comes from i just need it.

Without knowing the species of FOAM you want, construction grade, small cell, insulation foam sheets are sold at the suggested stores. White, large cell may also be available, but perhaps not in that thickness. What you may have to accept is that you'll have to pay for a 2' wide sheet in an 8' length and cut it. Worst case will be having to buy a 4 x 8 at that thickness, but the cost is not prohibitive.

Just a FYI-----styrofoam has the same insulating factor as batting fiberglass insulation.

Like most answers, start with the lumber yards and hardware stores.

You may have to buy a certain available size and cut it to fit.

I would go to either a retail outlet that sells packaging materials or to a crafts store, the larger the better.  A third possibility would be an industrial supply house that specializes in insulation products.  Finding a 5 ft. piece of Styrofoam might not be easy but it can probably be ordered for you.  But it's not something you want shipped because the shipping cost would probably outweigh the cost of the material.  Consult the telephone Yellow Pages for your sources.
