I have a project for computer engineering where i will need to buy my own computer parts and build a computer. i know that there are big savings involved when buying barebone systems in a package.therefore i want to get the best value for my buck. However i want to buy as little as possible after a buy the kit.

  1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...

  2. look on tiger direct its a great site for computer parts. Plus it cheap or about MSRP

  3. go to www.tomshardware.com/charts to do research first, then www.pricewatch.com for the best deals. most vendors there have online customization, so you can see exactly what you get before you buy. the only problem i had using it is say i want cpu X, Mobo Y, and graphic card Z. it's much harder to find one supplier who has all three in stock.

right now, the best values are:

    intel Q6600 cpu

    Radeon HD 3850 or 3870

    Any Asus motherboard

800 mhz memory (1066mhz is overpriced)

Western Digital's Caviar 500gb SATA hd (AAKS)

  4. EASY as PIE www.geeks.com you can get one for under 500 let alone 900!!!
