i want to purchase a beginners acoustic guitar that is a decent instrument, but not too pricey. i want to spend between $150-$350 (ish). the only places i've heard of are guitar center on halsted but i've heard bad things about that place and the reviews online are terrible. i don't want to get suckered into buying something because a pushy 17 year old saleperson wants to make a commission. also make'n music downtown, but i don't think thats a place for beginners. any ideas on where to buy one or what kinds to look into?

  1. Chicago Five and Dime.

    Your friend, PUMA

  2. If you can get to Rogers Park, there's a very cool local music store with very laid back sales people. The store is called Flatts & Sharpe Music Company (get it? Flatts.... Sharpe... LOL) and they even teach guitar if you're interested. It's on Sheridan Rd. and Pratt. In fact, I started to buy a guitar from there last summer, but the walls of my previous apartment were way too thin to be playing guitar. Anyway... I'm going back either this weekend or next since my new place is practically sound-proof! You should check it out. Happy shopping!
