Where can i buy a marching snare drum?

besides online?

i don't march but i'm in percussion class and need one to practice on.

also i picked out a Yamaha one, is this one any good

  2. Most music stores do not stock marching drums of any sort. Schools are the biggest market for them and they would order them from the store which would then have the equipment shipped straight from the factory to the school.

    Your best approach is to buy one online like at musicians friend or wwbw.com

    the yamaha that you chose is a powerlite, it is lightweight, the rims are not very sturdy & if you crank your batter head on tight or do hard rimshots, the rim goes out of round (which then causes the drum head to pull or tear).

    If you like yamaha, get the fieldcorps type at the very least as they are able to take much more use/abuse.
