Simply type in a search for race cars for sale, I've found several sites where you can buy old F1,IndyCars, and NASCAR stock cars, h**l you can buy a tank online if you wanted to.

Just took a Benetton B198 in part ex for a Ford Focus estate, gave him $850.

Ive seen on eBay

It was a replica of an F12007 Ferrari car

I am unsure if there was an engine, but it was to scale and painted accurately... Looked sweet... I believe somewhere around $50,000 USD

The back pages of Autosport are usually a good place to start. You can get cars from the 1970s and 1980s for less than a new road car. The 1990s get a lot more expensive.

They are often sold without an engine.
