  1. I use Flight Simulator X by Microsoft and it has a mode for real pilots in it where it becomes a simulator and not really a game.

  2. ITS A SIMULATOR U IDIOTS A FRIGGIN GAME & IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH REAL FLIGHT h**l YOU CAN LAND ON A RUNWAY WHILE FLYING AT 800MPH s

OH BY THE WAY I HAVE ONE & THE GRAPHICS ARE PRETTY GREAT

  3. Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane are both very respectable desktop PC flight simulators, particularly if you set the realism to maximum, use a joystick, throttle, and rudder pedals, and install ultra-realistic add-ons.  You can find these at any well-appointed computer or game store.

Certified simulators are those that aviation authorities recognize as officially counting for experience or logging hours.  These simulators are more specialized than the desktop sims mentioned above and may require the presence of an instructor and a very specific hardware configuration in order to be loggable.  They may also be less realistic for aspects of flight other than the part certified.  They are always more expensive (easily ten times expensive, often far more).

Full-motion simulators cost millions of dollars and precisely simulate specific, real aircraft, such as jet airliners.  They are out of reach of the average person, although some operators of such simulators will sell time on them (at a high price).

  4. If you are looking to buy an acutal simulator, than nowhere.  Even the small ones cost a few million dollars.  You may have some luck if you can flind a flight school going out of business.

If you are looking to rent time in a flight simulator than it depends on what you are looking for.  If you are looking for jet sim time, than nothing is really cheap.  ATP is located all around the country and offers jet sim time, but it can be pricy.  I know a guys who got unlimited jet sim time as part of an internship program, but he is a lucky you know what.  For just piston sim time, you can go to just about any flight school at any general aviation airport.  Most offer piston sim time for a cost of $15-60 an hour.

    hope this helps

  5. There are some websites that sell used flight simulators for a couple thousand (still a lot) but the cheapest one is the computer flight simulator.
