Where can i buy knitting sets?

i'm a beginner and i don't have any knitting things at home.

and i live in vancouver so we have no target or things like that.

Do you mean a set of needles, or a kit that has the yarn and directions? Mary Maxim is a great source for both.

Order the needles called for in the pattern but don't buy any others until you need them. It would be a waste because there are sizes that you will never use.

Go to your phone book look under yarn, you will find that there are a lot of yarn stores in Vancouver go to one and they will be able to help you.  Many will offer lessons

Don't buy an interchangeable set.  You're a beginner and you don't know yet if you really enjoy knitting and it would be a shame to spend all that money on a set...only to have it sit and collect dust.  Not all of the interchangeables are of that good quality either.  They come apart and you lose your work.  

All you need as a beginner is a pair of size US 8's (CAD 5mm), some medium weight yarn (sport/worsted), a small pair of scissors, a row counter and a yarn needle.  You can get all of that at Walmart or Zellers.  Don't buy a fancy yarn because it'll be hard to see your stitches, and stay away from Red Heart Super Saver because it's of low quality and you won't be able to do a thing with it.

If you still decide to buy a set.  They sell them at Mary Maxim.  I'm Canadian and buy from them all the time.  It's a great site and they'll send you a catalogue a few times a year... http://www.marymaxim.ca/webapp/wcs/store...  The non-interchangeable set they have is all grey and boring.  At Walmart, each size has a different color so it's easy to find and pair them (I find this handy because I have about 100 sets in a drawer, lol)
