  1. You can check craigslist.org if someone in your area is getting rid of some. Also check a local lumber yard, but in some cities they are very competitive. The prices there might be double the price at home depot or Lowe's. You might get a good deal. Just go down there and see. Usually it's hit or miss. Good luck on your search!

  2. Wreckers like Teperman's salvage material from demolitions. You may have someplace like this near you.

  3. There are a few places you can check. First, your local phone book for building dismantlers or reclamation (or salvage depending on the vocabulary in your area) yards. You can sometimes get used plywood for $10 a sheet from these places. It pays to be picky though and pull apart their piles for the perfectly flat sheets without too many nail tears. Another option, which can be really hit or miss, is to look for ads on Craigslist or again in your local papers for people doing their own remodels or who have bought too much plywood. Very few people put ads in favoring to just toss it in the dumpster. You can watch the ads and make a request on Freecycle as well.

  4. Check your local phone book or the internet for your local habitat for humanity resell store.   You can buy cheaply priced building materials and the money goes back into the program to help build more homes for needy family.

  5. no where, sheet type building materials went sky high with the start of the war in the middle east and will stay that way till it is over, and then it will never go back down to what it was prior, apparently most of it gets shipped over there so the remainder is harder to find and higher priced

  6. Local salvage yards are a great place to start. Usually the materials are brand new. We remodeled most of our house with products from a salvage yard. Major savings!

  7. Menards

  8. You can go to the jungle and ask the tribe to cut it for you. Seriously. We do. Much more inexpensive.
