Where can i buy rottenstone and what is it normally used for?

rottenstone is decomposed limestone supposedly available at hardwood stores. it is an ingredient in a pewter cleaner recipe i had intended to make. thank you.~*

I don't think you'll find it at a Lowes or Home Depot.  Try a real woodworking store like Rocklers or WoodCraft.  It's a superfine abrassive, used to polish things to mirror finish

Go with JeffeV's answer.  If you want to have fun, ask the help in the Big Box's paint department if they have rottenstone.  Then wait for [dumb look].
