Some good brands of skate shoes include es', fallens, circas, but for starting out you might want some vans.  Here is a link for these brands:

dont shop at like target or walmart shop at ccs.com and buy skateshoes.com also jays boardshop or active and mabye journeys but a good skate shoe is fallen

online, but becareful of scams. ccs.com has some nice shoes. pac sun sometimes has them. footlocker & finishline sometimes have them.
