I am having a little trouble finding a good place to connect my ground wire for my 1400 watt infinity amp in my 96 aurora. Its a pretty thick wire and i have been told I need to find a spot and scratch the paint off. I wanna hook this up with minimal or no damage to my car. PLEASE HELP!

  1. i dont know what alvarez is talking about bout your ground should be within 3 feet of your amp!

  2. HAHAHAHA,,,HOLD ON HAHAHAHA DID HE SAY GROUND IT TO THE BATT. HAHAHAHA IS HIS REAL NAME GEORGE CARLIN??? THE GROUND SHOULD BE WITHIN 2 FEET,,, HAHAHAHATHE BATT.

  3. Well it depends on where you are mounting your amp.

If it is possible hook it to a bolt that holds your seats in.

If you hook it to your battery it will be to long, the shorter the better.

  4. the best place to hook the ground is to the battery itself. as is the red wire with an inline fuse. and the safest from an electronic standpoint.

  5. Assuming your amp is in the trunk, I've always been a fan of the strut/shock tower bolt. easy to access and gives a very good ground. Find the plate where your rear shock/strut is mounted through the floor of your trunk, (probably behind one of the trunk trim panels, usually directly or near below the trunk hinge), remove ONE of the nuts from one of the 3-4 bolts, crimp a ring on your ground wire, and bolt it on. Make sure you have enough wire to run it concealed all the way to the amp so it looks good. :D

one more thing -- length plays a part in a good ground. I wont lie to you because im not an expert on that, but i know that resistance (ohms) come into play when your ground is too far from your amp, and make sure that your ground cable is thick enough for your amp. it's best to ground it close, within a couple of feet.
