  1. Generally there are Money Exchangers in every country particularly in their big cities where American USD can be exchanged for GBP, Mark and Francs etc. This is the most convenient form of transaction. However there are authorized Banks in every country where also the USD can be exchanged.

  2. The answer to this question depends on where you are trying to change it.

In the US, very few banks tend to have foreign exchange available.  You should look in the phone book under "foreign exchange" to find them, and outside of big tourist areas and cities like New York and Washington, DC, it might be difficult.

There are places that exchange money, including Travelex, AAA, American Express.  You can almost always find one in any international airport in the US.  In Washington DC and New York there are more, including locations in DC in Union Station (on the platform level) and the Old Post Office Pavilion (in the basement).

Overseas, most banks will have a foreign exchange, certainly all the larger ones.  So in Germany you can go almost everywhere.

However, the easiest and best way to exchange money in Germany is at an ATM.  If your money is in the bank, you can almost always exchange your money for Euros using any ATM. (Geldautomat in German).  You get the best rates, the lowest fees and the easiest access.  Check with your bank for details.

For what it is worth, there are no Marks or Francs any more (there remain Swiss Francs), you will want to exchange for Euros.

  3. You can go to any bank or I recommend a TravelX.  To save some money use an ATM the exchange rate is better and it gives you euros!

  4. the bank.  it doesn't even have to be your bank... they all change money American money into Euros.

  5. The easiest place is in the airport there are many currency exchange terminals there. Otherwise banks. Most will have someone who speaks english especially in the bigger cities. Or just use a ATM and get euro out from there.

  6. ......um are you in germany or america?  its the same as in the states...but....the bank In the states (A large bank will exchange the money for you maybe with a fee.) in germany, any bank will exchange the money for you but it may cost a small fee..you can use an ATM machine in germany but it has to be able to connect to your account.  LOOK for the little signs to see what the ATM supports (ex) master card, visa etc.  NOT ALL ATM MACHINES WILL WORK TO PULL OUT EUROS OR THEY WILL CHARGE A LARGE FEE:

The BEST place to exchange is inside a LARGE bank (sparkasse or such)  These place give the most accurate amount back with no fee.....Trust me I live in Germany.

  7. If you want to get Euros in Deutschland - as mentioned before - go to any bank and they'll do it. However, you can also use an ATM or Visa-card on German teller machines and get Euros out. The money will be exchanged on your account.
