  2. A great way for your to dress Lolita at school without going over the top is to try casual Lolita.

Casual Lolita employs the use of the bell shaped skirt but may not be quite as wide.  It also pairs the skirts with a top generally referred to as a Cutsew.  You can pair the skirts with T-shirts or slightly fancier tops to create a casual Lolita look.

The picture below illustrates two different types of casual Lolita.

For shopping try the following stores:

Fan + Friend is a great place to start. Even if you do not purchase from them they have a wide variety to look at and you could find at least a specific style you'd like to work within.

If you a looking to order state side try

    http://www.inthestarlight.com

    or J-chan designs

    http://jchansdesigns.com/

I have purchased from In the Starlight and have worked as a model for J-Chan Designs who will be featured in the August issue of Anicoz magazine. Both owners are a delight to work with and are excellent designers with great craftsmen ship.

If you are looking for something that looks more like Japanese brand but are willing to sacrfice some of the quality for a lower price may i suggest Anna House

    http://annahousefashion.com/

While the prices at first look expensive keep in mind they are in Hong Kong Dollars so the $280 dollars for a skirt is actually, for example $36 american. The quality is actually good although the fabrics are a little thinner than couture.

  3. What do you mean? There's different types of lolita like sweet lolita, classical, hime, which can classify under "doll-like".  I agree with the other poster's suggestions but I'm not familiar with the eBay site (Which can be hit and miss for quality) but to add, in most brand websites, they offer these things called "cutsaws" which you can use casually. You may want to try fan+friend which makes custom sizes and check out the lolita livejournal community. They'll inform you more on the styles. You might be interested in other styles like completely black, gothic {Like Moi Meme Moitie gothic), etc. They might even have some tops for cheap in the community =)!

  4. I don't know what you consider dressing up like a doll... but these are my favorite asian clothing sites, some of them a visual kei clothes

    http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/apparel/sexpot....

    http://stores.ebay.com/Wai1222-CoLLecTiO...

    https://www.lolita-kisama.com/shop/index...

    http://www.candyviolet.com/

If you don't want to look like a "doll" then I suggest mixing a visual kei style shirt or hoodie with a gothic lolita skirt

    happy shopping :)
