  1. When I started guitar I learned acoustic, but u can start with electric if u want. When I got my electric guitar i got a package at guitar center that included guitar, amp, strap, cables and picks. It wasn't that expensive. It's a Squier by Fender. I took guitar lessons. The basic chords u need to know are A, E, D, G and C. u can probably learn pretty well from dvds and tabs online.

  2. I bought a Mitchell Acoustic Guitar for around $200 from Guitar Center (Chicago, IL). Great beginner guitar!

  3. Sam Goody has starter kits and Wal Mart has starter guitars. You can even try Sam Ash (or the equivalent where you live) they have the instruments, books, and cds. Good luck.
