Do you have coworkers with children in childcare?  That's the best place to start...ask people you know or work with first.  You can also check the state's website regarding childcare.  It will show you any problems with the daycare as it relates to the law.  Of course, just because they have all their paperwork done and their place  is spotless, that doesn't ensure that their employees are kind and caring.  Get references from parents who either currently have their children in their care, or from parents who used to use that facility or home care.
