  1. Free lance paper writing for Chemistry magazines and companies needing reports?

I know a friend of mine has a PhD and writes up reports getting paid £90-150 per report.

Once you make a name for yourself, your in the door.

  2. Scientific Magazines are good, so Newscientist or Chemistry and Engineering are worth a look also, to a lesser extent Science or Nature, though those tend to focus more on Bio-Chem and Cancer research jobs these days.

If you're looking for an industrial job then check out the big Chemical companies like Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, GSK, J&J etc. or maybe even take a look at some of the Chem-Informatics companies like Symyx, Accelrys or CambridgeSoft.

If you're looking for something academic then look at the University websites or www.jobs.ac.uk.

  3. with a PhD in chemistry you should have found one before you graduated! never heard of anyone having this problem before, and I've been training PhDs for 20 years. Didn't your supervisor suggest anything? Perhaps your PhD is too specialised?

  4. Magazines like new scientist have job adverts for roles in universities and research centres.
