Where can i find a new decently priced quality mountain bike?

I want a mountain bike to ride the trails on, but i don't know the first thing about finding a good one. plus i don't want to spend too much. i'm female. 5'0.

Depends what you call decently priced.

Normally, I suggest the folowing:

For a bike to be used only on roads and groomed trails, consider 5 to 8 days pay but not less than $250. Avoid full suspension models;

For a bike to be used on moderate trails including fire roads and rutted paths, consider 10 to 12 days pay but not less than $400. Avoid full suspension models under $800;

For a bike to be used on aggressive trails and technical terrain but not for racing, consider 20 to 30 days pay but not less than $1000.

If this sounds like a lot of money, remember that in the 1860s a typical bicycle cost more than 3 months pay and they weren't nearly as good as what we have today.

If you stay within these parameters and visit your local bike shop you'll find something right up your alley. Ignore brands, if someone tells you that one particular brand is best- run- don't walk out of the store. My preferences- based on component grade and overall design- are Diamondback, Raleigh, KHS, and Iron Horse but don't let that limit your search.

Do you want cheap or good? Choose one.

The cheap ones are heavy, or won't last very long. If you want a decent bike for less, buy a used one. But you will need a small frame at your height.
