Mmkk..one thing for sure is, it depends on whether you buy 24k gold or 18k or whatever becausee it makes a huge difference in price. second you should probably think about how heavy you want it because they weigh it as well. but if you wanna get a 24k gold necklace for 30 dollars or more, i dont think it's possible unless it's extremely thin. you should probably go for 14k gold? but i doubt you can get it for 30$ or less. =\ good luck anyways.
