  1. Look for Sewing Machine websites in the United States if your motor is 110V60cycles, and perhaps in the UK if it is a 220V motor.  A lot may depend on the brand of your machine as to the mounting bracket you need.  You may be able  to exchange the motor brackets from the old one to the new.

If you are replacing the motor because it stopped running, you should also check the motor brushes to see if they are worn out before replacing the entire motor.  Most sewing machine dealers or electrical supply outlets will have a new set of motor brushes for your particular motor.  To check your motor brushes, look on the side of the motor at the opposite end from the pulley.  You should find 2 s***w-caps most commonly made of a bakelite material. Turn OFF the machine or unplug the motor!   Carefully unscrew one of the caps and set it aside.  Behind the cap you will find a spring which you can pull out with the remains of the motor brush attached.  If the motor brush is worn to less than 1/2" it must be replaced.  Always replace the motor brushes in pairs.  This will probably cost you the equivalent of less than ten dollars US, a lot less than a new motor.
