I have an automatic 1995 honda accord ex and the stock F22 engine is gone. I want to get my hands on an H22..where can i find a good price on one and a reliable shop here in phoenix that would install it, i heard that i should avoid the h22a but everybody seems to have that...any suggestions and would i have to replace the transmisson or would the h22 fit just rite since both blocks are similar....i would like to go and check one out and not order it off of something...

  1. you can find a h22 motor in hmotorsonline.com

but for this type of question your better off asking the pros at

    honda-tech.com

there u can search the forums and even the classifieds and find exactly what your lookng for.

  2. http://www.hmotorsonline.com is definitely a great place to buy parts, they have a great reputation for selling very clean engines.  If you set on looking at it before you buy, then you'll have to search locally for a place that sells engines, which could be hard to find depending on where you're located.

I have no idea why anyone would say to stay away from the H22A, that's the big upgrade for Accords.

The engine will bolt right to your existing transmission.  My friend has a F-series transmission mated to his H22A, with no problems or modifications at all.  You'll just need the correct ECU for the H22A, an automatic P13.  If you get the engine from hmotorsonline, ask them if they have an ECU to sell.  Otherwise you'll have to search around online to find one.

Here's a link to some swap information.  There's a parts list and info on the wiring that will need to be done:

Basically it's just switching 2 wires at the ECU (A6 & A11), adding wires for the IAB and Knock sensor, then lengthening wires when needed.
