  1. Call your local State Medical Assistance (Medicaid) office to see if you qualify for assistance in paying these bills. If so, they will make a appointment for you to come in to the office. You will have to complete some forms asking you about your income, any money in the bank or anywhere else, where you live and who lives with you, and about any dependents you have that rely on you for their support.  Be prepared to show proof of all the information you provide to them.


  2. What 'mgoo&me' replied is a good option. State medical insurance coverage is probably the best way to go. Also, try calling the hospital/medical offices that you are receiving bills from and ask if they have a financial assistance program for people who are uninsured or under-insured.  Most places offer financial assistance for people in your situation so don't be afraid to ask.
