  1. You're in the thick of Tamil country----Bongs and Tamils don't mix ---just kidding...seriously, mustard oil cooking wouldn't fly in Chennai so you're outta luck...try someone (find a Bonghousewife willing and able) to make it for you and tiffin-bag it for you-- cheers !

  4. Ever heard about a place called Triplicane ? There are a lot of bengali restaurants there, CNK road especially.

  5. Annapurna of Calcutta is a really good Bengali Restaurant in Chennai...

    It is right next to the Police Commissioners' office in Egmore..a little beyond the Egmore Childrens' Hospital...

    Not sure if you would have the dabbawallah there but is it a small but good place to hang around and to eat authentic Bengali Food..

  6. I dont know about dabbahwallahs, but there is a restaurant called Bayleaf in Alwarpet. I had food there a couple of years back and it was very good!

  7. hi desinut who said bongs n tamils dont mix...am a bong married to a tamil and my hubby loves bong food....tamils cuisine is so poor ....bayleaf in alwarpet is one good restrnt and there are few near apollo hospital....best is get a bong wife...who knows to cook
