Depends on how much you need.

Refereeing sports can be very lucrative; basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball etc. They mostly pay in cash and there is a shortage of good ones for tournaments and high-school games. My kids have earned from $7.50 - $20/game just for house-league basketball. Adult referrees I understand make upwards of $50 and $100 per game in men's leagues.
