  1. eBay, as usual...

  2. Ebay. I go with the certified baseball card. Normally, if you put in the name of the player you want, say Brandon Webb, and put "auto: with it, you will have about 20 cards that come up. Most card are from Upper Deck, ect that are a certified card that a certificate of authenticity on the back for the card. Don't go for the ones without the certification. Anyways, I got a Brandon Webb auto card for $9 the other day. Not bad!

  3. Card/memoribilia shows generally have them at 'affordable' levels, though not truly cheap.  Staking out the travelling teams hotels works sometimes. Used to you could hang out around the player lots and get some.  Most teams have no autograph policies in effect now though.

When I wanted to meet Nolan Ryan ( about 15 years ago in Arlington) I just figured out what kind of car he drove, by watching him come or go, and kept an eye out at the local restaurants.  (He liked to eat at Friday's and El Chico a lot of times.)  Be sure and respect a player's privacy.  We hooked up with a few times, always waiting until he was finished eating and leaving the place.  Had some real nice talks and even met his family.  (Great folks, as a side note.)

These days memoribilia and autographs are big money - players know it and clubs know it.  Getting lucky and finding a player in the right mood is about the only way to get an auto cheap.

BEWARE EBAY.  A percentage of those autos are not real.  I, personally, would never buy an autograph from anyone other than the club or the player's personal organization or website.   Since that's about money or charity...no deals there.

If you just like autographs in general, and aren't searching for a specific hardballer, invest in a HOBBY box of baseball cards at the local card shop.  Hobby boxes are more thickly seeded with autographs and game used stuff (than retail boxes) and usually guarantee a minimum pull per box.  EX.  3 autograph or game used cards per box.

  4. Well be carefull on ebay.   Ive seen some suspicious looking autographs on there.

  5. whenever your trying to buy something the answer is almost always E Bay
