I've had luck emailing directly to the company and asking to sample a particular product. I've gotten free samples and coupons to purchase the item.

have you checked out http://www.sampleaday.com ? Tons of free samples without "pay offers", long surveys or other catches.  I signed up for their newsletter, and now  I get to check out the new free samples every morning in my e-mail box which is sweet.  But if you don't want to do that, you can check out all of the free samples on their main page.  I hope I helped!
