  1. Hi i home educate 3 children i get my books from waterstones but i also get books online from the direct suppliers  like heinemann . The only thing i,ve got to find out is where and how they do there GCSE.s . Also for DVD's i go into a shop called THE WORKS it is a book shop but sells cheap books art and crafts.

  2. There are lots of good books available in WHSmith. And if you Google home schooling you will probably find lots of sites to help you out with equipment, support & advice. I taught my son at home for a while about 10 years ago so I'm afraid I can't remember the exact sites I used. My daughter spends time in & out of hospital though & I've found WHSmith to be great for books.

  4. Hi

When I home schooled I tended to buy CGP Books as they were more structured and are most popular books in the UK. I got a discount when I brought direct from them.

Kip McGrath training is also what I used as well.

Links below may help you out.  Good luck

  5. Fairycake is correct.

  6. CGP books are fine for revision but I don't feel that they go into much detail for learning stuff from scratch.

For KS3, I would strongly recommend the books by Galore Park Publishing for many subjects.  They are primarily written for Common Entrance exams at 11, 13 and Scholarship but they are also brilliant for KS3.  The language books take you up to GCSE.

For maths, I use STP Mathematics published by Nelson Thornes - they are brilliant - no silly pictures, just good explanations and plenty of exercises!  There is one for each year, right up to year 11 (GCSE year) and there are two sets for each year.  Choose the "B" set for children who expect to take the foundation tier or the "A" for the higher tier.

The URL for both publishers are as follows:

    http://www.galorepark.co.uk/

    http://www.nelsonthornes.com/wps/portal/...

However, i would suggest that you purchase the books from Brynteg Books.  They mainly supply books to schools but will sell to individuals as well.  They offer a minimum of 10% discount on every book and postage is free.  If you buy direct from the publishers there is no discount and you have to pay for postage.  Brynteg's website is:

    http://www.bryntegbooks.co.uk/

I use them all the time.

    Good luck

  7. Try "Education Otherwise"

They are a bit 'beard and sandals' but generally seem to be a useful organisation for home-schooling families.
