  1. This won't help for now, but The Fearless Critic Restaurant Guide to Washington DC will evidently be out in a few months. It is an incredible guide to restaurants in the area. It is very thorough and very funny. Right now there are guides to Austin, Houston, New Haven and the Five College Area of Western Massachusetts. The author is Robin Goldstein. If you live in the DC area (and are not just visiting soon for a few days) it is worth waiting for.

  2. Old Ebbitt Grill

    675 15th Street, NW

    Washington, DC 20005

Your would need to call and check to see what hours they would be more family friendly.  I would say around the off-hour lunch. That place gets packed, because it has decent grille-type of foods, and it's well-known among the locals.  I seemed to come out okay, pricewise as well.  It's been a good couple of years since I visited this restaurant, but I remembered this as being a decent place.

  3. Pot Belly Joes it is a really good sub and sandwich place, reasonable prices, and great for the family.  Near the ESPN Zone

  4. There's a Fuddrucker's hamburgers in DC, on 7th Street, near the National Portrait Gallery.

Also, several of the museums have cafeterias.  For an interesting one, try the outdoor cafe at the National Gallery of Art.  Sit at a table in the sun and then walk around the sculpture garden, which has items (such as a huge eraser), that will interest the kids.

  5. Chinatown(Gallery Place)-all the places have 3.95-5.95 lunch specials. You get an entree, fried rice and spring roll w/ hot tea and fortune cookies. The dinner menu's are inexpensive also.

Ledo's pizza/Italian food-good pizza and other items. It's family friendly Georgia Ave near Silver Spring/ and there's one in Georgetown

Ben's Chili bowl it's a legend--chili halfsmokes, chili cheese fries

I also like Bucca DePeppe (Dupont) Italian which they serve

things family style so the portions are large to share. You can reserve

a booth in the kitchen and you and your family can watch meals being prepared.

There are other small places in downtown DC that are sandwich shops

    (Potbelly, Subway, Fuddruckers, etc)

Also California Tortilla is a good option.

Booeymonger is also good (Friendship Heights)Sandwiches/Salads

Union Station's food court (basement) supplies a lot of options also

  6. I've been to Fudruckers, I think that's how it's spell.
