my 11 year old daughter was recently bitten by a dog. The responding officer was also bitten when he went to the address to write up the report. I am mentelly tramatized as well as my daughter. My daughter doesn't react to pain as a normal child would. She acts as if there is no pain. We notice, recognize her pain by her attitude. Where can we get the mental help that we need? She is not comfortable when I am out of her site, and nither am I. It is mentally draining. I as well as she need counseling, and I don't know where to start. If you can direct me to resources, it would be verey helpful. Thanks.

  1. for teh underresponsiveness to pain she needs Occupational Therapy that addresses sensory processing-this should be provided by your school district....

as far as emotional trauma---contact your local austism society--there are some child psychologists that specialize in developmental disabilities

  2. Call the local autism society or a local university psychology department.  They should be able to help you.

  3. Try the police.  Call and tell them what happened and that a report was filed.  They should have a list of agencies that can help you.  Good luck.
