Looks to me like you are looking for the stock price of Manulife, who owns the John Hancock name. If that's the case, go to Yahoo finance, then enter MFC (the ticker symbol) and you can find historic prices.

   The only way that may not work is if they did not own John Hancock in 2003 but in the absence of any facts to the contrary, I assume they did own it.

As you probably already know, John Hancock was a separate company in 2003. It was taken over by Manulife in 2004. Therefore looking up the stock price of Manulife in 2003 would be meaningless.
