Where can i find out about antique crystal?

I have an antique crystal candy dish and need to find an appraisel

Antiques roadshow tickets are only given out through a lottery system through your local PBS station.  There is no guarantee that you'll get in even if you do apply.

Go to the library and browse through the books on depression glass and or crystal.  It helps if you have some idea how old it is.  Glass & crystal is very hard to date if unmarked.  

Some of the better pieces are often found in thrift stroes for that very reason.  So few people can tell good from regular.  Look in your local antique stores for their monthly flyers and see if there are any appraisal services?

If you pay a small fee, it is always better because you'll know more about it and get a written document that shows value for the possibility that you might want to sell it at a later time?  

Even if you did get on the Roadshow...  They do not provide proof of value or written documentation.  They tell you in person and you leave with nothing but word of mouth.
