  1. A Beka Books sends out home schooling text books, and you can call or email them if you have problems. I have been using they're materials from the beginning.

  2. http://www.k12.com/

It will answer all your questions there.

    Its an on-line school.

If you go through your school District its free.

They give you an on-line teacher so you will not have to teach ALL of the work Just help him with a few little questions

  3. I don't know the laws in Manitoba but you need to find out fast what they are.  Every province has it's own guidelines that you have to follow.  In Alberta you have to follow the provincial guidelines, in BC you follow the guidelines or just register and do what you want.    You have to be registered or enrolled with some educational board somewhere in your province.   There are usually several to choose from as well as your local school district.  Choose your board carefully as they may have different guidelines, levels of aid and amounts of reimbursements.  They will reimburse you for a lot of your costs.  The amount reimbursed is usually closely related to how close you follow their guidelines.    Winnipeg is a big city.   Tap into the local homeschool network.  There should be a curriculum supply store there somewhere that will be able to give you information, check the yellow pages.  Keep asking around.   It is very helpful to have a support group to answer your questions and they usually have all sorts of group activities that you can participate in.   Once you have encountered the homeschoolers in your area ask, ask, ask.  They will be happy to help you with your concerns, support your decisions and share their experiences with different curriculms with you.    Send away for information.   Look up Sonlight on the internet, they will send you a catalogue of materials,  www.CanadianHomeEducation.com in Calgary will send you a catalogue as well.   I order almost all my stuff from them.   There are also boxed curriculum that are largely faith based from Alpha and Omega, ABEKA, and ACE.   Some love them, some hate them.

There is also a movement called Unschooling that is popular and works well.   That usually involves chucking the rules, enriching your childs enviroment,  using the world as a classroom and learn for the love of learning.  I don't know how that would fly in Winnipeg though.     You will probably be required to meet with your boards facilitator 3 or 4 times a year, to file your lesson plan and be monitored   to see if you fullfill the provincial requirements.

Anyway.  I ramble too long.   Good Luck on your new adventure.
