Where can i find railroad ties in and around Richmond Va ?

I'm in AZ but if its the same I just look in the phone book under feed stores or livestock and most of the feed stores in AZ can get them for me so maybe the feed stores in VA can do the same.

Nick is right, it is almost impossible to buy them directly from the RR, unless you buy all the used ties from a tie renewal project, and that will normally be thousands.

That is where the feed and farm or building supply stores get theirs, from a contractor who buys an entire project's worth and sells them in smaller lots after sorting them out in their different grades.

Try Home Depot, call them to see if they have some.

If they don't have any, some lawn and garden stores carry them. Or if you happen to catch the guys out working on the track changing ties they might let you have some of the old ones. I needed a few before and that's how I got them, h**l they even loaded them in my truck for me.
