  2. i googled key words "radio broadcast alien invasion" and got this wikipedia reference.

    as has been already stated, it was a BIG deal, at the time, since radio was the only form of broadcast, and the primary method for delivering news in those days.  even though, at the beginning of the broadcast, he stated that it was a dramatization, most people reacted hysterically, believing that it was 'real'.

    it's a fascinating episode in broadcast history
