most of the popular travel websites (travelocity, expedia etc) have about the same rates...is there any way to get cheaper tickets?

Check out http://www.bombasticlife.com and see their Bombastic Deals.  If you don't see a good deal there, then click on kayak, it will search hundreds of sites for the best deal.
