it was a great movie with a great conclusion to the fullmetal alchemist anime franchise. i absolutely loved it. it was truly one of the best anime series of all time. and with this, it is one of the best anime films i have ever seen. you are really in for a treat if you haven't seen this movie yet.

My thoughts?

It feels more like a very long Episode 52. It finishes the series and wraps everything up nicely.

I loved all the episodes (1 to 51) so without the movie the series just does not feel complete. If you've seen the episodes, you need to watch the movie.

It has a bittersweet ending and they were a lot a lot of people ticked off about that.

I personally thought it was good - FMA never had one of those 'sappy happily ever after' things going for it - the whole Equivalent Exchange theory - give something up of equal value to gain... You give some, you get some.

I enjoyed it :)

However - If you wait a while (April 2009) there should be a new FMA anime series based on the original manga (which is beyond brilliant) and that should be very interesting - since the manga is more detailed and completely different and definitely better than the anime (which I also love) :D
