Where can i find trendy NYC restaurants that are not too expensive?

Question

I am primarily looking for a place that serves dairy dishes as i dont eat meat or chicken. I like italian and japanese. someplace not too expensive and preferably not in the meatpacking district. Sorry i know thats a lot of specifications but i really need help! Thanks!

Everything in New York is OVERPRICED and of bad quality. It's the dirtiest city I've ever been too.

Everything in the Lower East Side is fantastically priced. Spitzers is a great place to eat There is also a place called Innoteca that has a wonderful cheese menu (since you like dairy) and is also located in the lower east side. There is also a place on Gobo that is 100% vegan (its in the village), im a meat eater and still thought this place was great. As far as Japanese, there is a place called Funayama that has great sushi for a great price! Hope this helps :)
