i recommend iSkysoft DVD to iPod Converter,it's easy to operate and support free upgrade.

Handbrake may be the only choice, which is total free and convert DVD files(including protected DVD) to various video formats. But the quality of converted video is not as good as professional one makes.

For windows user, i recommend these ripper tools

DVD decrypter:

copy dvd files to pc, but have no subtitle and audio track option and cannot convert vob to other video.

If you wanna do it for your media player, you need a video converter to conver vob video...

NOTE: this programme cannot work on windows vista.
