  1. There are ferret rescues, right now I have a ferret I would gvie away to the right home, but I would need the $300. back from his cage..

He was the victim of a 'domestic dispute' and the owners had restraining orders against each other so he went to foster. Very very friendly!!! Look into a rescue, if not free, there may be a cheaper one.

They are not expensive to upkeep, but a proper cage can be expensive.

  2. http://www.topix.com/forum/pets/ferrets/...

but you'll have to buy a cage and food

    *Nothing in life is free*

  3. Try www.craigslist.com and click on your city (or the city closest to you) and look in the pets section. You might also want to try looking in your local newspaper.

I'm not sure why you want a ferret for free, but you should know that the inital cost of the ferret isn't all the money you need to have to take care of one of these animals. They need food, a cage, litter boxes and litter, and you will have to pay for vet bills. Here is a link to a chart that shows the cost of owning a ferret over several years: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?...

  4. ferrets are not rodents they are small mammals and eat rodents.

    try craigslist.com or adpost.com

  5. most people wouldn't give it away for free. plus you'd need a cage and everything else. if you can't afford to pay for it's supplies and then the animal itself, don't get one. ferrets are expensive, though shelters or rescues might have them cheaper. doubt you'll find one for free though

  6. maybe not quite free.. but...

  7. You might try your local freecycle group, but depending on the local group you would belong to, they might not allow offering or requesting pets.  But they would definitely allow requesting/offering pet stuff, like whatever you would keep it in, food, toys, etc...

  8. I went to petco once and I adopted a hamster because its family was moveing and they didnt want it anymore! I got is free with his cage, extra bedding and his food, and an igloo and food and water dishes! Try going to a pet store and see if they have taken in animals! But chances are you wont find a free ferret often but you could find one that needs a home at a local animal shelter or on these sites for less money than petstores, http://www.petfinder.com/ and http://www.craigslist.com/

  9. You won't find a free ferret often, especially one that comes with a cage, food, supplies, etc Check out http://www.petfinder.com for ferrets in shelters or rescues in your area. Adoption fees are, generally, low and affordable. You may be able to find someone rehoming their ferrets for a low cost on http://www.craigslist.com

Please keep in mind that having ferrets can be expensive. You'll have to get a cage, which can easily cost you over $100. You have the price of vet bills, as ferrets need shots. Ferrets are prone to some medical problems. Vet bills can be very high, so you must be able to afford it if something should come up. Ferrets also require a high protein food, and this can be a bit costly. Unless you're positive you can properly care for a ferret, including all costs that may occur in its lifetime, please don't get one.

  10. Probably at a shelter.
