  1. Go on line to Petfinder.com. Enter your city and preferences and the site will take you to animals up for adoption from most rescue organizations in your area. It will also let you access their websites so you can research the organizations. This is how I adopted my 3 cats. I know you will find a sweet little kitty!

  2. Visit any of your local animal shelters, or visit www.petfinder.org. You can plug in your city and state and search for all animals in need of homes.

  3. Just go to your local shelter and they will have an amazing assortment of adorable kittens and cats.  There will be some cost, but it will be minimal.

Adopting is always the way to go....Good Luck!

  4. come see me, Iive in Kansas City, but I have pure breed siamese, I would give you one, they are 8 weeks old, I have 1 left

  5. There is no such thing as a free kitten. Shelters charge a fee, somewhere between $50-$100, but that includes all shots and medicines they need, probaby spay or neuter, and the guarantee that the cat is healthy when you get it.

I got a kitten from animal control in my town. It was only 4 weeks old and was found and dropped off there. When I adopted it, I had to take it straight to the vet to make sure it was even healthy enough to keep. It was treated for worms that day, and I've also had to pay for all his shots. The good thing about animal control, though, was that even though I paid $50 for him, they gave me a $40 voucher to help get him neutered, so he was really only $10... plus all vet fees of course.

  6. Why do you want a FREE kitten?

if you can't afford or don't want to pay a nominal amount for a kitten PLEASE rethink your reasons for wanting one in the first place!

All pets cost money. The be healthy they need to eat nutritious food, be seen by the vet regularly, get vaccinations and flea/tick preventative medication. That's just the tip of the iceberg. If that sounds expensive forget getting a pet!

  7. Look in the classifieds under pets, I've seen ads for free kittens.

  8. As others have pointed out, there is no such thing as a 'free' kitten.  Shelters and rescue groups not only do a background check, they also ask for a modest fee, which does not even come close to covering their costs.

Yes, you may be able to find a totally 'free' kitten, but that kitten will need vet care, food, litter, etc., and is not simply a throw away.  So if your idea is a pet that costs nothing, then stores have stuffed animals that will cost you nothing after you buy it.

  9. The cost of a "free" kitten is not really free unless the kitten is already spayed or neutered (or you don't plan on fixing your cat) and vaccinated. It is actually cheaper to adopt from a shelter and pay their adoption fee because they will have already given the spay/neuter, first vaccines, tested for leukemia/fiv, and given dewormers. Most people who have cats that give birth to kittens don't go through all the necessary health checks and will probably give you a kitten with worms or something. You are better off to just pay the $40 to adopt a healthy kitten from the shelter.
