  1. It's called an animal shelter.  Abandoned/stray cats get sent there, and they'll eventually be put down if nobody adopts them.  It's an easy choice.

  2. Call your local SPCA, they aren't free, but the cost usually includes medical care and spay/neutering.  If not there, try craigslist.com or your local paper.

  3. try petfinder.com

  4. Nowhere. Kittens need food, health care (vaccines, check ups, spay/neutering, emergency care), toys, scratching posts, and time and effort to train them and make them feel loved.

You can get one from some random person from the searches others have mentioned, but they'll still need care and probably more care then a shelter cat would need.  If you don't have the money to adopt one from a shelter or foster organization then you probably don't have the money to own one. The adoption fees at shelters pay for a significant portion of their early health care and in some cases even their spaying or neutering.  It's more money up front but almost always less than the vet would charge if you had to get it all done yourself.

  5. no such thing as free, there are vet bills associated with any pet. please adopt a kitten from a local shelter. they will charge a very reasonable adoption fee but the fee almost always includes them being fully tested and vetted as well as microchipped, vaccinated, and altered.. really quite a bargain! besides, you would be saving it's life.

  6. A free kitten would not come with vaccinations or having been dewormed or anything... Im sure your local shelter has some that are ready to go and you can find them on petfinder.com. It is much cheaper to adopt in the end, because adopted kittens will be vaccinated and fixed and usually microchipped. Vet bills for these things are outragous. Most vets even offer a discount for shelter pets. So yea, it maybe $100 give or take, but just to get your new kitty fixed would be like $150. On top of that you will be saving a life.... last year alone the US killed 4 million dogs and cats a day. I volunteer with a shelter and they put down kittens just the same.

  7. try craigslist.com

  8. Why are you trying to get a free kitten?

If you can't afford to adopt one, then how will you be able to pay for the vet bills and food and litter?

I would recommend petfinder.com - the main search is for shelters but there are other tabs for individuals.

But really think about this.  A kitten is a BIG responsibility.  Are you really ready to give a kitten the care it deserves?

  9. Look in the newspaper, or the pennysaver.

    Or the humane society.

  10. search at yahoo or google

  11. Petfinder is not really free, first of all. It directs you to shelters that almost always require an adoption fee of over $100. A lot of times, farms will have kittens for free, as their non-spayed cats had kittens. But I suggest adopting one, as the cost of neutering, shots, and other things will amount to much more than $100. Farms rarely give their kittens vet care before giving them away. However, shelters spay/neuter, (possibly) declaw, give shots to and give checkups to their kittens before putting them up for adoption. Some places will even insert a micro-chip under the kitten's skin before putting them up so a lost kitten can be returned.

  12. There is about 500 in my niehborhood and my mom's male cat keeps on makin um' lol......  For real though get them off the street or from you SPCA they need homes the most!
