Where can i get a great gun for small price?

I'm looking to get a second M1 to up grade to the M1D which is the sniper variant for hunting this fall and im wondering where i can find a cheap one. Even if it needs some work.

This is at least two questions presumptuously glued together. There is nothing "small price" about anything involving the "great" M1 series. For the very best sniper rifle, reducing recoil is better done by cartridge selection than by using a semi-auto action. This is primarily because new or full-length re-sized cases are necessary for reliable feeding in a semi-auto action, and they lay in the bottom of the chamber, necessitating a bullet jump-up into the rifling upon firing. Not the best thing for accuracy! Conversely, only neck-sizing is required for a bolt action, and the fired case fits the chamber, thus centering the bullet with the bore. Plus, one may reduce powder by 2 or 3 grains to compensate for the increased pressure of nestling the bullet into the rifling lands, which awesomely increases accuracy, an old benchrest shooter's trick! Such ammo must not be lent out as other guns might have tighter chambers! And this of course won't work in loose semi-auto guns. The 243 has 1000ft-lbs delivered energy past 400 yards, plenty for the job, and negligible recoil to s***w up your aim. This makes it the top of the bell curve for actual sniping ability. It's perception versus reality. In the real world, a real hunter wants real results. Those who equate "bluster/ false image" with reality, will end up with one but not so much of the other.
