If you already have a line installed then it's only a matter of picking your carrier.

You can Google it under local providers.

Talk America is one.

You can also use your local provider such as Verizon.

If you have no line installed then you do need to call your local provider for an install. Expect to pay about $200.

Keep in mind that your bill will be taxed and padded with all sorts of fees and charges. It's unavoidable as the government turned the telephone utility into a cash cow.

I got rid of my landline 2 years ago and switched to Vonage.

As long as you have a reliable high speed cable connection you shpold be okay. And it's reliable and cheap.
