  2. Probably - you are not.  Just like everyone else said.  Macs are expensive machines.

Now - you can get PCs with equal power.  I'd start looking at higher end Dells and HPs that are more in your price range.  All the Macs are going to be pricey - even refurbished ones.

You can also look on craigslist - but I will tell you that 2 year old MacBook Pros are going for upwards of $1,000 dollars - that is also pretty much the same for ebay.  I sold my MacBook Pro (2 Years old with a 100GB HD, 2.16Ghz processor, 2 GB RAM) for $1,200.

You can get an iBook or perhaps a PowerBook in your price range - but the computer won't be as fast or powerful for a PC you can get at the same price.

There are really well designed PCs out there.  Go check out dell.com and hp.com.  sonystyle.com may even have some refurbished ones in your price range.  Just be wary that a Mac within your price range is most likely going to be outdated.  Even those old tangerine iBooks are going for 400-500 dollars on ebay!

  3. You are 100% out of luck.

You will never ever find a new iMac or MacBook for that price.

You CAN get a new Mac Mini for that price though.

  4. Like, Fantasyland maybe.

You're asking for a new Macbook pro that's cheaper than current non-pro Macbooks and is priced overly competitive with PC notebooks of way less than $700 (remember that PC notebooks are supposed to be cheaper than macs, right?)  I'm not sure it's even possible to get a refurb that cheap - even refurb Macbooks cost more than that.  Did you even bother to check apple's on-line store or anywhere on the web before you posted this question?

If you're a student, you might be able to get a discount from your campus store, but hardly that much - you're asking for practically a 60% markdown.

Are you even sure that you need that kind of power?  You can get a new Lenovo Thinkpad w/Core 2 Duo 2.26MHz, 2 GB of RAM and GMA X4500 graphics.  That will run about $900.
