  1. EBay! Try the jewellers too! They should have plenty of rings to suit your budget and they will be able to do a lay away for you so you can pay it off if you don't need it right away. Good luck.

  2. We went together to Kohls when they had their 65% off sale and got my ring.  It was $1200 and he bought it for $300 or so.  We also opened the card and saved another 10  or 15%.  Its a beautiful ring and I love it.  you don't have to go to some big name expensive place to find the ring of your dreams!

  3. if u dont wanna spend much on diamonds... thn u cud sumthn wat i had done...>> tht is.. simply real silver ring.. with nothing on it to decorate.. cuz it was a real beauty wen it came on his finger..!! trust me.. its simple, delicate & elegant..!!

    all the best.. tc..!!

  4. These are some that I sent to my finance (all under $400)--a little note, diamonds weren't always the official stones of engagement rings!

Also, my dad always bought my mom rings from JCPenney's--they were low priced and good quality.  You can also look for antique or vintage rings online--they're often unique and cheaper than ones you find at Shane Co!  I've also seen ads on Craigslist for rings.  Unfortunately, with the economy being so bad some people have to sell their jewelry, so you may be able to find a good deal.

  5. I live in MN and recently got engaged.  My ring (which we purchased engagement and wedding at the same time), was purchased from  http://www.jewelryexchange.com/ .  It is a custom design.  We spent a little bit over 2100, but I ended up with 2Ct's and a ring that is worth double the amount.  I would at least check them out.

  6. Take him wandering through an antique store or consignment shop and stop at the ring case. We got my ring, a Tacori-style yellow gold eternity band with yellow and white diamonds, for $800! Mine looks like the gold one;

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...

Always check through resale first. The prices are usually better, and older jewelry is mostly of better quality, too!

  7. Go for quality over size.

Whatever you do, don't buy it online. I had a disasterous experience with JewelryExchange.Com. I bought a 1.50 ct round for $1899. It was so included that my local appraiser thought it should never have been cut into a solitare. It was "saw blade" quality. It was dark grey with tons of carbon in it, and a huge fracture on the side. It appraised for less than $400.

Did they take it back per their "guarantee". Hellll no, they didn't. It's so ugly that I'm embarrased to wear it.

My advice, FWIW, go to a local diamond wholesaler (like the Shane Co), and see them before you buy. Go for a good cut, color, and clarity. For $1000, you can probably get a pretty nice 1/3 ct to 1/2 ct that you will be proud to wear.

    Congratulations on your engagement!

  8. My son got the engagement ring for his now-wife on Ebay.  It was used and it was a great deal.  You have to check the seller to make sure he or she has great feedback.  You will probably have to bid on a few before you get one.  The ring he got is gorgeous.  Then he found a band which fit with it at an antique store.  It was a great way to recycle.  Be creative.

  9. First. Read this http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/shopping... 5 money saving tips.

Second. Find a best quality and price diamond on this website: http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/

Third. When you find a diamond you like go to a store that sells it and find a matching ring setting.

    That's it.

http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/ has more than 400,000 loose diamond to chose from found on 15 most reputable online stores. So there is absolute guarantee you will find a best value diamond.

  10. I've seen nice ones at Wal-Mart before. You might want to look into them on their website or even in the store....not sue about their quality or the 3 c's That's really the only place that has them for under $1000 except maybe some department stoes like Sears, Kohls, etc. Jewelers can accomodate to your budget but sometimes they overcharge too. Good Luck!

  11. I absolutely adore my moissanite ring.  It looks just like a diamond and is actually a synthetic moissanite based off a stone someone found in an asteroid.  It's a strong as a diamond and has a little bit more fire (sparkle), and of course b/c they're made in a lab, there are no flaws.  Not a soul can tell the difference (there is a slightly green tint in certain lights but so subtle that only I see it), so only my friends and family know.  You can find out all about them on Charles and Colvard's main website (http://www.amantsbydesign.com/); we bought mine for only $310 (http://www.moissanite.com/).  If you're open to alternatives, these are truly beautiful rings!

  12. My husband got me a gorgeous, custom ordered ring from Perrywinkles Fine Jewelry for about that much.  It is gorgeous, great quality and they have the best customer service.

    for locations: http://www.perrywinkles.com/

  13. most likely you can go into any jewelery store and tell them you want something under 1g

of course don't tell them you're looking for an engaement ring for under 1g or theyll laugh you right out of the store.

also make sure he wants to propose :) lol

  14. i would try bidz.com .. they have some pretty nice stuff .. or jewelrytv.com ... they have REALLY great stuff .. remember it doesn't have to be a diamond unless that is what you want ... and remember that when you buy jewelry online make sure you take it to any jeweler to make sure the stones are tight in the setting i have never lost any stone out of any ring that i have baught from these two websites but i have heard it happens ..

  15. You can buy a gemstone ring and have a diamond wedding band.  Also is there any jewelry in the family?  My husband gave me a ring that was his Grandma's wedding ring.  It is 1/2 carat round stone set in a square setting.  It is very pretty!  Also you can a nice ring and put a high quality CZ in it.  Then for an anniversary, you can upgrade to a diamond.

  16. worldjewels.com, primestyle.com...two good websites that have diamond engagement rings in your price range.  Also they give 30 day money back guarantee and free shipping.  If you do buy a ring on line, go to a reputable jeweler and have it professionally appraised just to be sure you got a good buy.  I saw some beautiful rings on line.  Just stay away from mall jewelers like Zales jewelers...all rip off joints.

  17. Go to a local artisan jewelery store... ask them to design a ring that fits into your budget... and if you don't need a huge diamond, but will consider other stones, you'll probably end up with a beautiful, one-of-a-kind ring.

  18. I would suggest looking at the jewlery store's clearance items.  You can get some really nice ones there.  Also, look at jewlery stores that carry estate pieces.  You can usually get good quality pieces at very reasonable prices.

    Good luck!

  19. You can find rings under $1000.00 at many different places.  However with a lower price comes less quality and a smaller diamond.  I got my engagement ring at Kay Jewelers for $400.00.  I have decided to upgrade my center diamond because of the lower quality.  The salesclerk at Kay's showed me some very nice, certified diamonds that were between $800 and $1000.  Good Luck.

  20. Try bluenile.com

They have pre-set engagement rings for any budget, or you can select a diamond that is the size and quality you want/can afford (go for better quality over bigger size) that is under $1000 and then you pick a setting to fit it.

    Good Luck!

  21. There are plenty of options, just steer clear of the jewelery chains. You could have one made, try a pawn broker, the internet, antique stores. You could buy the diamond seperately and have them set in a semi mount which is much cheaper than having the setting made. Anything retail will cost you more so get creative and look around before deciding.

  22. You can get a really nice band for $1,000.  Try www.whiteflash.com or www.jamesallen.com

Please, please, please don't buy from Kay.  Total rip off.  There diamonds are OK but you can do so much better with a little bit of research.

An engagement ring doesn't have to be a standard ring with a diamond.  You can do a band and when you guys are in a position to get a traditional engagement ring, go ahead.  OR you can do a stacked look where you stack two bands together.  I absolutely adore that look and it just screams elegance.  Here is one that I think is beautiful from the whiteflash and its only $600:

    http://www.whiteflash.com/Wedding_Bands/...

If you absolutely have your heart set on a diamond ring, then start small.

Here's a lovely option from www.bluenile.com.  It's a .27 carat, Ideal cut (yay sparkly!), G, VS2 set in an 18k white gold (or yellow) solitaire ring for a total of $840.  Its a gorgeous stone, I would go for it.  If the link doesn't work just go to blueniles website and run a search.

    The stone: http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-...

    The ring: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engageme...

This baby will pack a punch!!

  23. Try local estate jewelry shops in your area or you can also check eBay.

eBay is great to find a nice engagement ring, but just make sure few things: 1) always get it from sellers with positive feedbacks in the last few years. 2) read the details about the diamonds carefully (carat, color, clarity, cut, fluorescence) 3) always.. always.. always.. get certified diamonds appraised by GIA, IGI, EGL, or AGS because they are unbiased.

Some sellers on eBay use the feature of "best offer", use that! But do your research before giving your maximum bid to avoid getting ripped-off.

Good luck! And congratulations on your engagement.

  24. My ring cost about that. It's a 1/2 carat solataire set in yellow gold. It was orginally a 1,400 ring but they gave him a deal on it. It came from a  local jewerly store.

I'd advise aganist the places in the mall. He said that they were more expensive and the diamonds were lower in quality for the price than the smaller local places.

Definitely shop around for the best deal, it's a lot of footwork, but worth it.

You might also consider going with another stone other than a diamond.

  25. walmart keepsake line is not bad....it really depends on what you want. We have a store called Keslers here where they have alot of nice rings starting at $299, not junk ether! Just remember its not the ring but the person that really matters....

  26. http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/ser...

just remember you have it forever!! :) mine was $7000.00 and my band was $2000.00 but it's a one off cost for something you'll pass down your family!

also, tell your boyfriend to ask how much of a discount he can get by paying cash on the spot and they'll usually knock a couple hundred off for you! my husband got a grand off mine so it's worth a shot!!

  27. If you have a local craigslist, then sometimes people unload their engagement rings that they're no longer using for a lot cheaper than they are.

Also consider wearing a stone that's not a diamond. I think sapphires are also beautiful, as are emeralds and rubies.

Check out Zales Outlet as well.

  28. My fiancee got my engagement ring at Fred Meyer jeweler. They were very nice, and helpful. I got this ring:

    http://a871.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...

for just under $1000. However, it also included the wedding band (which is just a thin silver band that fits with the ring) and an insurance plan. They had lots of options there.

  29. this is kinda weird

but the one i want, and actuly like lulz, is at walmart for 400$ and i love it. you can get it engraved too =] <3Q

  30. You can go anywhere you like. Depending on the size of stone you want. Always go for quality rather than size. You can  get a .5  for 1000, but the stone itself will be c**p. Go for a smaller diamond with at least vs clarity and a color of h/i or better.  It's also a good idea to get a certified diamond - be it colorless or not. Always ask to see the certificate to make sure you know what you are getting. GIA is the most popular, others are also comparable - check on-line. EBay does have some reasonable prices on decent diamonds and rare asscher cuts, just make sure to read ALL of the info before bidding or purchasing. Also, check the sellers feedback - read the comments and decide for yourself. One last piece of advise is if you buy on EBay and the seller has no feedback or does not respond quickly if you have a question do not buy from them, this is a very important ring. Make sure there is a return policy in case you are not pleased with the item.

  31. Loads of answers but I do not think there is an actual helpful one.

I looked for you using this site and I really recommend it for you

    http://123diamond.co.uk/Online_diamond_s...

.I found half a carat princess cut for under a 1000$.They are between 600-750$) with a colour range of F-D.A simple tiffany style 18k ring costs around 200$.The shipping cost is free! You can also use the site below to get further discounts.

So all will come out to be less than a 1000$.But trust me if you buy the same ring from any street jeweler it will cost you 2x-3x.So you can get the quality and save the cash.

I recommend James,Cause they Have an upgrade policy as well as a return policy. The upgrade policy will deduct the full price you paid from any bigger diamond in case you decided to buy a bigger one within 2 years!

Hope this helps you ,and if you have any further questions or you would like any help in choosing your diamond post it the forums.
